WHAT JOBS TO GET OR AVOID IN FFXIV
It’s always interesting to see the different reasons people choose a particular class or job over others. Such things, while somewhat tricky to fathom, are not entirely beyond conjecture. Whether it is because you think a class is more fun or simply yields more FFXIV currency, we’ll be dissecting the different aspects of each class with our handy list. That way, you’ll know which ones to get and which ones to avoid. The FFXIV’s job system isn’t really anything out of the ordinary, but there are some unique classes that are worth your time, and some that are surprisingly good at farming FFXIV Gil.
Jobs to Get in FFXIV
1. FFXIV Red Mage
The Red Mage is the flashy spellcaster of the game. It is a job that is considered to be a stable of the Final Fantasy series, and putting it in the Final Fantasy XIV job line is a good move for Square Enix. The mix of ranged, powerful spell attacks that alternate between the two schools of magic combined with fancy techniques is what makes this job so great. Besides dealing lots of magic damage to enemies, the red mage doubles as a healer and buffer as well, though its healing powers are not as strong as that of the healers. If you’re a player with a low skill level, you’ll definitely fall in love with the ranged and melee attacks of the red mage.
2. FFXIV Astrologian
The Astrologian has an overall great toolkit by having AoE damage and healing skills. We can’t blame you if you’re a white mage thinking of swapping your class for this one. The healing rotation of the Astrologian has a lot of options, giving you varied skills to use. Astrologian (AST) is sort of just the best of both worlds when it comes to healers. Plus, the fun gimmicks and ways to use your abilities aren’t bad either. Have you seen those animations? Everything you do just looks downright amazing.
3. FFXIV Samurai
Let’s step away from the mage realm and focus on the melee jobs for a change. If you’re imagining a powerful, katana-wielding warrior that’s reminiscent of the early years in Japan, then you’re spot on. This job is a powerhouse and has a high-damage output, which is welcome characteristics in any group. It’s also the most mobile job in the game, compensating for the fact that it lacks in utility. This job is mostly easy to get into, but hard to master.
Jobs to Avoid in FFXIV
1. Final Fantasy 14 Machinist
While the job may look cool, don’t let that fool you into thinking that it has a high DPS rate. The Machinist, out of all the jobs, gives the lowest damage in the game. In fact, it can’t even compete with Bard’s utility. With its questionable combat designs and convoluted gameplay mechanics out of all the jobs, it’s no wonder there’s barely anyone playing the game who takes this on as the main job. Machinist (MCH) is hands down the most unforgiving job in the game for all the wrong reasons!
2. Final Fantasy 14 Scholar
Scholar isn’t a bad job per se, but there are other classes that are far better than. For starters, the White Mage can heal for longer periods of time without ever running out of mana and can also dish out incredible damage. This makes the Scholar fall short in comparison due to the fact that it doesn’t really excel at anything at all. Being the least effective healer and being more dependent upon its pet in the game makes the mage a class you should definitely avoid.
3. Final Fantasy 14 Dragoon
This job, by far, has the lowest damage output for the Melee DPS class. It pales in comparison to the Monk, Ninja, and Samurai classes. Dragoon is arguably the easiest job in the game to farm for FFXIV Gil, with repetition of the same combos over and over. With just three major buffs to work with, it almost feels like it’s a chore to become a part of this class and to farm up on FFXIV currency, especially in the endgame. Avoid this one!
